Applications for Mongoose Country are open!

What's up everyone! Applications are open again!

Well our two months are up and Applications are now open once more! I wish you all the best of luck this round!

Can I buy my way in?

If you donate $50 or more towards the server you'll be granted an automatic spot. This price may seem steep, but the matter of the fact is - if I make it too low, then everyone will donate to get in. At this price, a person has to think about the amount and won't just toss it around so easily. This will, for lack of a better term, weed out the people just trying to gain access and troll. This donation will also count towards your rank once on the server. 

This 'buy your way in' type of situation has been asked by a lot of people if we were ever going to do it again. It has worked for the last 3-4 rounds of applications and hasn't caused us any problems, so we'll leave this option in. Even if we get a troll or two that come in (Even though we haven't) - they'll get banned immediately and forever lose their chance to be on the server and wasted $50. Simple as that.

Writing out your Application:

First and foremost, one word answers will never get you into the server. Spend more than a minute on your application, it's not "First come first serve" In fact there has been a lot of times the first few hundred applications without finding a single one we liked. So put some personality in your application! Also, on the reverse side of things, writing out a 10 paragraph essay is not needed either. Our eyes get tired after reading thousands of these, and long applications will more than likely be skipped or skimmed. Try to keep it around 2-3 sentences per question, that's a great place to be at.

Don't mention how much you love our content! :P That's not what this application is about, show your love for us on our videos. This is an application about YOU, and only about you. You need to convince us that you're awesome (note: Do not say 'IM AWESOME' that got old after the first 50 times). Also do not send us pictures of your past builds, we're concentrating on building a great community, not great builds. Another thing, if you can't donate do not put "sorry can't" on each thing about donations. Just leave those blank. 

Also, multiple applications do not increase your chances to get in, infact it will void all your applications. If you've submitted one the last time around it's perfectly ok to apply again, just ONE application though haha.

To sum it up; be yourself and you'll be fine.

The biggest thing you need to remember is that if you're going to donate with your application is to make sure you put your E-Mail you used in your application. The next biggest is to PUT YOUR IN-GAME NAME IN THE NOTES OF THE DONATION (Right before you finalize the donation, there will be a drop down menu to add in notes/IGN). Failure to do this, and your donation will go ignored. This is because I can't figure out who the donation came from, if you forget any of this during your donation, PM me on the forums (Potato) with the amount, and your IGN. I cannot stress this enough; it takes just an extra second to write it, and it saves you money.

Your Pre-Donations will count towards your rank if you get chosen. So if you donate $30, that money will count towards your rank once on the server; consider it a boost right from the start! Even though donating before hand will not gaurantee your entry into the server, bigger donations definitely get more notice than small ones. If you're dedicated enough to donate a lot of money before even getting in, that says a lot about your character. We love dedicated people, because without them our server wouldn't have lasted a year. Dedication keeps us alive, and never goes unrewarded.

Although we do appreciate all donations towards the server, regardless of amount, we would appreciate it if you would refrain from donating anything under $5 USD. We tend to get flooded with a bunch of people donating under $1 and well... 63 cents just seems like you're giving us your pocket change for the fact we say "donations help your application get noticed."

If you can't donate because of age/employment that's COMPLETELY ok, honestly. We have a lot more people on our server whom can't donate compared to those who can. We understand this and that's why it's a DONATION, not a subscription. <3

When will E-Mails be sent out:

First off, we will NOT be sending out E-Mails letting you know you didn't get in. We only send out accepted E-Mails. However, to help everyone know I have always made a video letting everyone know when we have sent out the E-Mails. So once you see this video, and you didn't recieve an E-Mail, I wish you better luck next time.

We usually run applications for about 5-7 days. And Send out accepted E-Mails a week after we open them. The only time we close applications early is if we see a huge increase in numbers. Since we can't spare a lot of time to read applications but we'll try to keep them open for 5-7 days.

Important things to remember before applying:

If you cannot accept rejection, do not apply. Every application round we get a few people complaining they didn't get chosen. We've had to reject people who have submitted great applications before, because of space. We only accept 20-30 people each time we do this, which means not everyone is going to get in. If we have 3000 applications, and only accept 30 people, that's what, like 1% or .1%? Somewhere around there. It's a low chance, which means you should be prepared to be rejected.

It's nothing against you, it's just math; and sometimes math sucks.

That's about it, I truely appreciate you reading through this and you can go apply now knowing you have a better chance compared to others.

No chickens allowed. [Week of 9/24/2012]

Whew. I'm tired. It's been a loooooong week it seems. Ready to start the next one? Not really. But that doesn't matter right now, because it's still Sunday, and there's still an Update to be posted, so let's do it.

Which means there's not going to be a lot of text for you to muddle through. Just a lot of vidjas [But read to the end for the fanart feature I promised].

Since I'm pretty much an attention whore-bitch, I'm putting my video first. I'm back in the game, ladies and gentlemen, with an episode of my stock-standard Minecraft Let's Play.

A series that just doesn't quite compare to Breny's hardcore:

 Terry was very active this week, with videos including a new "Squad" video as well as some more amazing art:

Potato popped out several videos this week as well. He finished up his Unmechanical playthrough:

Bro/Borderlands/bros/dawgs [Week of 9/17/2012]

Since I live in the procrastination station, this update has become a Sunday thing. Which I'm okay with, if you are. Truly the end of the week, yes?

But I'm sure you don't really care about that. You just want your weekly dose of Mongoose, to make sure you haven't missed anything important. So let's go.

I'm obviously extremely busy, as I'm sure you can tell from this video:

But that's probably because I'm the only person in the world without Borderlands 2. Team Mongoose has been all over that lately, with streams as well as a series of videos [with a very awesome intro Potato edited]. Whether you play the game or not, you're sure to enjoy the series:

In other news, HePlay delivered videos as promised--he started a playthrough of Spec Ops: The Line! You can watch the first episode here...

We've got vidjas. [Week of 9/10/2012]

Well, it’s that time of the week again [actually, that time of the week plus a day or two]. Make sure your socks are on tight, you’re sitting down, and you’re wearing a diaper, because this right here is your weekly Mongoose update: known to knock your socks off, make you fall out of your chair, and sometimes you’ll even find you’ve wet yourself.

It happens.

 Anyways! Let’s kick this off, shall we? Before I start pelting videos at you, I’ve been told to alert you to the fact that Potato’s fixed Twiitchh’s computer! This means he’ll be up and at ‘em again, kicking ass and taking names [and also making videos]. He’s got loads of amazing and hilarious Battlefield content on his channel, and is a core member of Team Mongoose, so I don’t know why you aren’t subscribed to him yet. I mean, have you SEEN his beard?!

It should also be noted that I am the proud owner of the last ever old-logo Team Mongoose shirt. If you loved the old design, that’s unfortunate, but it does mean we’ve got some new styles up with the spiffy new logo [and even more new shirts will be coming]. If you’ve been waiting to get a shirt, now’s a good time. Show off your Mongoose swag to the world!

Alright, now let’s get into the videos, because that’s what you all come for [Ithinkmaybe].

First off, I’ve updated the end-of-season-6 Server Saturday marathon playlist since it’s now over. That also means you can look forward to some Server Saturdays from the new map next week!

If you haven’t seen yet, Puddles has started up his legendary Minecraft LP again. His style is very different to what you may be used to in a let’s play--a breath of fresh air, if you will. Here’s his latest episode, to give you a little taste:

HePlay is also back to making some videos... maybe. He’s been livestreaming loads, but he posted up two short Battlefield 3 clips the other day, showing off some of his mad skillz in a jet and a tank:

This is a thing now. [Week of 9/3/12]

Well hey there, Mongoose fan, or perhaps meerkat pilgrim wandering wild. My name is Dul, and I’ll be your host on this wonderful journey I like to call the, uh, TEAM-UPDATEY-THING. Yeah. It was supposed to be a temporary name but nobody was helpful, so there we go [suggestions are welcome]. Hopefully I don’t have to say that too many times.

Anyways, if you’re new here, this is something Puds used to do, but I’ve now taken over. Don’t be alarmed.

Andbutso that’s the first bit of news this week. I’m in Team Mongoose now [and it should be noted that despite what Adam may tell you, I’m not the baby goose, he is]. Hello there. I’m known as DulJuice around the webs these days, but I really just go by Dul. You can find me here and there on the internet, and perhaps you already have. If not, the link to your left over there would be a good place to start.*

BUT DON’T LEAVE YET! Still so much more to talk about.

What else has your favorite group of small carnivorans been up to this week? Well let’s see now...

I’m sure you’ve noticed the brand new site layout Puddles designed, seeing as that’s what you’re looking at right now. Have you noticed the badass new logo that is badass and just screams... badassness? Now you have. And a new logo means new armor must be made, of course, so look out for an announcement about that coming up soon as well.

And don't forget about the podcast, either. Episode 69 is up, and it's the first podcast I'm in, so you know it's going to be good. P.S. 69.

You also may have heard that Team Mongoose is gettin’ it in on Guild Wars 2! We’re on the Jade Quarry server, and have a guild going as well. If you want in, you’re welcome to mail me [Dul.5712] and ask for an invite. The more the merrier!

The new map on Mongoose Country is in full swing, but Potato’s got a little marathon of Server Saturdays going on to finish up the builds from last map. It’s a bit late, but if you haven’t already checked your email [your spam folder too!] for an acceptance email, you could be missing out on THE SERVER OF A LIFETIME.

If you haven’t seen, Potato and Puddles have been rolling out dual LPs lately. Puddles is uploading Saints Row 3 on his channel, while Potato’s doing Sleeping Dogs.
